Manage order of User Profile Properties

I am not sure who design the page, you have to click the up arrow next to the property to move it up one and each time you click the arrow the page refreshes so you have to scroll back down before you can do it again and if you have to move the property by 50 positions that 50 clicks and 50 page refreshes –

 

 

Below script can change the order for you, and the later part is to display the order of the properties for reference

The error I get on the form is

An error occurred accessing a data source.

An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server.

Solution: Disable the authentication loopback check

Re-enable the behavior that exists in Windows Server 2003 by setting the DisableLoopbackCheck registry entry in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa registry subkey to 1. To set the DisableLoopbackCheck registry entry to 1, follow these steps on the client computer:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
3. Right-click Lsa, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type DisableLoopbackCheck, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click DisableLoopbackCheck, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
7. Exit Registry Editor.
8. Restart the computer.

Update-SPProfilePhotoStore : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

It seems the cmdlet  uses the WCF service ProfilePropertyService.svc, so I gave my admin account full control in the Sharing section of the UPS application.

People Search result doesn’t have images in SharePoint 2010

I have upload all the user images to the User Photos folder in My Site, the image showing on the User profile page but when I do the people search, it doesn’t return image. After a few hours looking, I found there is a check box in the Picture property was unticked. Once I checked the box and run the full crawler on User Profile, all good now.

No User Profile Application available to service the request.

Today I was working on some cool features to update the User Profile store in SharePoint 2010 by Power Shell but I keep get this error was :

‘No User Profile Application available to service the request. Contact your farm administrator.’

After Search around, I found the problem was Permission.

There are 2 place you need give your permission to “Full Control” . They are “Administrators” and “Permissions” :

The user does not exist or is not unique.

I saw this problem a few times but when I went to user profile, I can see the user is there and all the information is right. But if you go to WSS_Content db and run

select * from userinfo where tp_title like ‘user%’

I found the tp_login data is different from the user who has problem. The problem with this, is that the tp_Login column in the UserInfo table for every site collection in which Margie has permissions, is cached with her previous NT Login Name. There is also no way to update this information with a SPUser object from the SharePoint object model, and SharePoint does not synchronize this from Active Directory once the users is added to a web in the Site Collection.

The only time that SharePoint will automatically update the tp_Login column, is if the users is completely removed from the site collection. The tp_Deleted column is then set for the user in that site collection. On the next occurrence of the user being added to a web, we gather the current information from the domain. You can however, re-sync SharePoint with the current information without removing them completely from the site collection by using SPUserUtil

For a single user you can use
stsadm.exe -o migrateuser -oldlogin MYDOMAIN\prhranki -newlogin MYDOMAIN\LUHRANKI -ignoresidhistory

If you need to do a batch of users, I personally think WSSUserUtil and SPSUserUtil is the way to go.

Add other fields (properties) to the Search results.

I have followed this blog to add new field to th search results.

There is one thing you need to be careful if the field is the property from profile. Open the property from Shared Service ->User Profiles and Properties ->View profile properties->Edit. Make sure you ticked the “Replicable” check box in the Policy Settings which will allow the property displays in the result list
